Apart from its exotic beauty, the area of Xerokampos is of exceptional interest to the visitor who loves the unspoilt nature. One will enjoy, among many other things, the numerous footpaths for trekking, an impressive canyon ending to the village, a lake on the east side of Xerokampos where, when the water full it up, migrant birds use to have some rest as well as a hill called "Pharmakokefalo" where an important ancient Hellenistic Town has been discovered in 1984.
For very good swimmers or divers, the three rocky islands "Kavali" are only some hundreds meters away from the coast.
Xerokampos is also one of the most well known handing areas of Crete for migrant birds and jackrabbits during the authorized season.

THE ROAD TO XEROKAMPOS

If you choose to come and visit Xerokampos for your holidays, you will have the choice between two ways starting from Sitia:
Sitia - Historical Monastery of Toplou - Palekastro - Zakros - Xerokampos (1 hour drive)
Sitia - Sikia - Papagiannades - Plateau of Ziros - Xerokampos (1 hour drive)
